Scissors Seminar 30.10.07

This is a summary of my seminar for your reference. Now its over to you.......

3d Three dimensions onto a 2d surface presents different challenges for each different morphology

Abstraction Necessary to be reductive but not too reductive

Tonality The effects of light can be mapped onto the surface and reveal cavities internally

Mapping Surfaces Map intricacies, patterns, surface erosions, depths, edges

Multiple Sections Reveal specific moments between outside and inside, dissections of the whole

Cutaway Section Strategic removal to make visible what is otherwise not

Familiarity Plot familiar with unfamiliar and tighten the frame of reference

Duality Overall qualities can be revealed- both internal and external simultaneously

Conceal/ reveal Give a comprehensive, comparitive study

Exploded Exloded drawings are assemblages in their own right

Exploration Reinvent drawing disciplines

Techniques Develop special techniques to show sectional properties, layers, patterns

Zoom Scales Use a variety of scales for comparision

Differentiation Differentiation of tonality within primary pattern to reveal complexities

Black & White Extreme contrast to depict patterns of thickness, thinness

Structure A secondary reading reveals and abstracts these findings

Depth Introduce colour to reveal levels in relation to an implied datum

Contrast Contrast must be maintained to avoid ambiguity

Accuracy Accuracy in reading and plotting of data will reveal new patterns beyond your expectations
