booklet
ok basically the first is the template with a colour coding at the side 5 colours (you can choose - can also be grey tone :) - intro, A, B, C, acknoledgement...
in that side bit is the page number, the overall section title bit smaller and a big bigger the specific page title
bottom of the page is a general info
not really shure what to write
right now: architectural association school of architecture - intermediate unit 6 - kings cross study - 2008 (please give me suggestions)
the box on the left hand side has to be free for binding except if a foto is supposed to bleed into it as in the third image
generally i think to keep it simple every group lays theire pages individually out as it is hard for me to do that for fotos, graphics, drawings, text...
but still the colour, fond size and the fond should stay the same
so i just said now: 1st. title size 18 colour 353535
2nd title size 12 colour 353535
text size 10 colour 494949
sources / image description size 8 colour 828282
if we want to make it really fancy we could have a colour tone for each section and then within this tone different darkness grades for different sections
small symbols would be nice but for that we would need to sit together and discuss which ones we need... maybe on tuesday
hope this is ok
oh yeah i have choosen a format in between A4 and A3 so not to small for drawings or big images but also not to big to hold it and with nice thick paper (160 gr) it should be ok

sounds and looks good though I'd prefer a portrait format but up to you.
thanks for doing it
portrait is difficult to incooperate everything
but lets have the discussion going :)
Looks clear and straightforward-
I think format should be A3 or larger- anything in between is hard to print/ preview etc.
Also, any ideas about headlines etc, and maybe the text paragtraphs are too wide to read comfortably....
Would be great to see more comments from others- and also Tala- could you post your version for comparison?
I like it a lot. it's good that you already gave to us sizes and colours.
About the format, if we are really willing to make it like a book, i think it would look nice as a square shaped book. And in case we need a larger page for a specific drawing, the pages can always be folded and extended (if you know what i mean).
I like the idea of having a book much more than simply printing pages and binding them together.
What do you think?
Nice job Fred, I really like the colour gradient idea in the individual sections.
Was just thinking that maybe it would be good to ask valentin about our book at the end of last year (if we wanted it in hard back) as it was really smart and included fold out pages.. actually just ask sarah ho...
And i dont know if this is a good idea or not but would there be any way we could make each section progressively wider in page width to create like an address book type thingy?
thanks guys for your feedback
to caroline about the format squared could be nice but is hard to organice or lay out but to disagree with jonathan (sorry :) i think that A2 is to big as we will not get that many pages to make it stiff - and it might turn out to look quite unprofessional
to erins idea with the telefon book section cutting in
i was thinking about that as well - would be really nice, not much more work only later than we would need to give it away for cutting but again not a problem - they will do it for free or a few pounds
more suggestions please
Fred- could you test the scale of the site plans in the format- this is a good test too. The Kings Cross Central Masterplan changes the orientation for their site- so North faces East (make sense..?). We will have a similar issue with our site and things around it- the format could evolve around this perhaps- to give it more meaning- just a thought... what about the rest of the unit....?
The bottom layout looks pretty good and clear to me, perhaps we could change the layout of photos and text in the middle one, would make it easier to read.
See you tomorrow..
