Just some ideas for courtyard extension. I prefer the third drawing with a larger courtyard to the right and clothing to the left. It seems to be the most intimate without being too small as is the case with drawing two.

Erin- I like the idea that the building responds to its surroundings- but in unexpected ways. Try to be more spatial- maybe through accurate models, photographed, or more precise drawings of the activities- highlighting the scale of gaps- narrow alleyways and courts open to the elements. I'll post some images...
